EA have leapt forward in the digital playing field by creating a system that lets gamers use a single identity across multiple game platforms.
The system took 1,500 engineers over 18 months to develop and affirms EA as a leading multi-platform digital gaming company on top of their retail game publishing roots.
In an exclusive interview with GamesBeat, EA’s Chief Technology Officer, Rajat Taneja said,
“Everything we do is putting the consumer front and center. We rebuilt our backend infrastructure on a fundamental level. It’s all about entertainment, but we realize that the way consumers are interacting with entertainment is different. They consume in bite-size chunks throughout the day, on the console, on a PC at work, and on mobile.”
EA’s system will let you pause a game on one console or platform and then start up where you left off on another platform.
Taneja also talks about the ability to play online multiplayers with friend on different platforms so long as the game permits which could have huge implications for the future of the console market.
EA have since disabled the need for an online pass to make online gameplay accessible to more players.
Another element to the single identity will be EA’s ability to finely tune marketing towards gamers.
“EA can use the telemetry from the tracking to make recommendations to a player on a faster cycle.”
Which essentially means you’ll get more relevant offers and promotions and much more real time.
Another move that cements EA as one of the big innovators shaping the future of gaming.

This sounds so cool… That’s yet another great move by EA in their quest to becoming the very best publishers in the gaming world ever.
They should make it so that you can play for example: FIFA against anyone on internet (maybe use Origin platform or something) regardless of their device, PC, XBOX or PS. That would be great!
