EA SPORTS FIFA 12 takes the top prize in IGN’s Best Sports Game of 2011 and wins IGN’s People’s Choice Award. FIFA 12’s quality and innovation shone amongst some stiff opposition.
Developer EA Canada nabbed 4 out of the 5 nominee places demonstrating their remarkable talent for creating great sports titles. 2K Sports NBA 2K12 was the only other nominee.
Notably, Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 didn’t make the cut.

“Annually, sports games progress by inches, as was the case this year with Madden, Tiger Woods and NHL, all of which offered slight improvements to already solid experiences. NBA 2K 12 was a notable exception with awesome new modes including classic players. But EA Sports ventured beyond the norm with its revamped FIFA 12, offering a whole new strategic approach to the important business of defense as well as a fresh take on online play. Structurally and graphically, it’s a gaming masterpiece.”
