Are you psyched for the World Cup? The best players in the world coming together on the world’s biggest stage to play for the greatest prize in history!

EA SPORTS 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil might be the only chance England have got to win it and it’s due to hit our shelves on 15th April! Unless you’re on Xbox ONE, PS4 or PC… Then you’re not getting it.

That’s right, EA SPORTS are only making the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The reason behind the decision is:

“We are making the best game we can for our largest audience, which is still on 360 & PS3.”

Despite being a sensible option on their behalf (the teething problems FIFA 14 had/is still having are testament that resources were stretched thin) it wasn’t received that well with the community.

There’s no getting away from the fact that it’s a big kick in the teeth for Xbox ONE and PS4 players, many of whom traded in their 360’s and PS3’s for the next gen counterpart. They’ll have to make do with Ultimate Team content (we’re guessing tournaments, In Form players etc) which no doubt will encourage them to splash out on more FIFA Points. Win, win!

I appreciate that the dev team’s had their work cut out this year. The transition between current and next gen must have been tough but at the same time EA aren’t without resources and the FIFA series is up their with their top earners. Not making the game for next gen gamers sends a message out that they don’t value them (or the game) enough to put their hands in their extremely deep pockets and make it happen.

I suppose when it comes down to it I’d rather have a finely polished FIFA 15 on my Xbox ONE than a half arsed World Cup game and a buggy, unbalanced next season of FIFA but it’s a choice I begrudge being forced upon me. Let’s just hope FIFA 15 really does see the benefits because if it doesn’t we’ll be left asking the same old questions. But… we’ll all still buy it anyway.
