Physics, urgh! No wait, physics is actually really cool and it’s what brings all the elements in FIFA together to make it the most realistic football game in the universe.
In this latest Pure Shot and Ball Physics trailer, Lead Game Producer, Aaron McHardy and Gameplay Producer, Kantcho Doskov show us what’s in store in FIFA 14 to enable us to unleash “The Perfect Strike”!
Previous FIFA 14 Trailers
Pure Shot
Pure shot will take shooting to a whole new level. Players will have the intelligence to prepare themselves before a shot to put them in the best position possible to strike the ball. Players weren’t able to do this in FIFA 13.
What this means is players will adjust their body shape and tighten their footwork so that when they strike the ball it’s a much truer sensation and opens up plenty more goal scoring situations and animations.
Once again EA SPORTS are focusing on what professional players do in the real game in terms of adapting and reacting to situations to control their shots accordingly. Players will be aware of where they are in relation to the ball and the goal, where their feet are and even try to get the shot away with their favoured foot.
This might be where having a player with a strong weak foot may be an advantage because a player with a poor weak foot might struggle to adjust their footwork to try to get the ball on their favoured foot.
Ball Physics
EA have revisited their ball physics system for FIFA 14 presumably because of the increased power of the new Ignite Physics Engine. This means there’ll be a lot more variation in ball flight and more variety of trajectories when shooting.
They’ve even taken into account the air flow around the ball and can anticipate the turbulence around a shot that’s hit with no spin. (Think of when the ball wobbles in the air violently from a Ronaldo or Bale free kick).
All in all the result will be a lot more reality, a lot more ways to score and a lot more exciting ways at that. Sorry goalkeepers!
