The FIFA 13 Ultimate Team Web App was taken down almost as quickly as it went up on Tuesday night causing a lot of tension across the FIFA community that had been itching to start building their new FIFA 13 Ultimate Teams and sparked a number of questions as to why the Ultimate Team web app was not working.

Initial rumours spread about the load testing of the servers but news eventually emerged that a small minority of people had found an exploit in the web app.

EASPORTSFIFA’s official line on Twitter was:

“Yesterday, a very small number of users attempted to gain an unfair advantage on the FUT web app,”

“The #FUT13 Web App had to be taken offline to be stabilized and ensure a level playing field for all FUT users.”

The exploit apparently involved using the Firefox’s Tamper Data add-on to gain access to tonnes of restricted packs of Ultimate Team player cards.

Capcha security has been added to the log in screen to prevent the “bots” accessing the servers.

These players were then sold on the Ultimate Team market place at low prices bagging the exploiters a huge amount of Ultimate Team coins.

Yesterday Unique Riggers tweeted a picture of someone that had made 900,000 Ultimate Team coins overnight.

Why The Ultimate Team Web App Isn't Working

This then flooding the market with ridiculously low priced top players like Messi and Ronaldo making a mockery of the FIFA 13 Web App marketplace.

EA have gone on to say that it will permanently ban anyone that attempted the exploit.

“Permanent bans for FIFA 13 FUT have been served to all users who attempted to gain an unfair advantage. Thanks for your patience while we create the best experience for all fans of FUT.”

The FIFA community is concerned however that if the bans are by e-mail account only there’s nothing to stop these dishonest users making another e-mail account and coming straight back on.

There’s also concern about the damage already done to the Ultimate Team market and calls to roll the Ultimate Team servers back to a point before the hacks took place.

Questions of security are also being asked as this Ultimate Team Web App hack was apparently around at the start of FIFA 12.

Like the FIFA 11 and FIFA 12 Virtual Pro hacks, once again a small minority of selfish cheats have tried to ruin the enjoyment of everyone else.

How would you deal with hackers in FIFA 13 Ultimate Team?

surely the only way to stop this, sadly, is to stop the web app and the phone app. youd stuggle to hack the xbox or ps3 software compared to a pc

Hopefully the EA devs will find a way to secure it.

The web app is such a big part of Ultimate Team culture that keeps people on Ultimate Team nowadays, I can’t see them ever getting rid of it.

EA is one of the biggest gaming names out, But yet they can get hacked by a firefox add on lmao. Fifa is a absolute con… You spend a fortune on buying packs then less than a year later a new game comes out and u have to start again so the money u have spent has just been a waste, Surely you should be credited from your old fifa to your new edition for all the money u have spent.

its not a waste of money in any way, its an invesment into your own hobby or something that entertaines you and you enjoy doing. For instances going out to a bar on saterday night spending 150 bucks or going to a club, i can go on for hours where money can be spent most people dont spend more then 100 dollars with addons plus game so its defintely worth the money and the following year where excited for the new one because its get better and better every year and ea does an excellent job. I’ve been playing since fifa 04 on Ps2 and now playing fifa 13 its incredible where the’ve taken this game. So who cares if we spend money every year, its definetly worth every penny.

That’s a great outlook to have Mikaaeel and I agree. FIFA is exactly that for a lot of people, a hobby.

People spend money on clubbing, fishing, stamp collecting xD and all sorts of other hobbies so if it brings you enjoyment and you’re responsible (i.e. can afford it!) then why not?
