Are you struggling to win games in FIFA 13 or maybe you’re stuck and need help to move up the divisions? Or just struggling to make the transition between FIFA 12 to FIFA 13?

In this FIFA 13 Guide review we take a look at the guide that “shows you what the pros do to win nearly every game they play”!

So, will you say goodbye to rage quitting and hello to Division 1?

Premier FIFA 13 Guide

According to their website, this FIFA 13 strategy guide will teach you (among other things):

  • How to win!
  • How to score more goals
  • A complete overview of how to set-up your team
  • When to jockey vs contain
  • How to master the new first touch control
  • Techniques for creating more space
  • How to improve your skills
  • All of this and more…

Bold claims indeed! So does the Premier FIFA 13 Guide live up to these auspicious statements?

First Impressions of the FIFA 13 Guide

When you first open the FIFA 13 Guide the first thing you notice is its sheer size. At over 120 pages long there’s a whole lot to take in in one sitting. Conveniently though it’s split into easy to manage, clearly headed chapters so it’s easy to flick straight to the areas you’re interested in most.

The FIFA 13 strategy guide is packaged in a PDF document which is professionally presented and laid out with plenty of easy to follow bullet points and lists.

A lot of work has gone into this guide and the level of detail is really worth mentioning. From the basic tips to more advanced techniques the guide tries to cover all situations that you might encounter during (and leading up to) FIFA gameplay.

Each section clearly lays out the basics of what it’s trying to achieve and then goes on to more detailed, advanced FIFA 13 techniques.

For a guide of this quality I’d have expected the graphics to be more impressive and images to be higher resolution with some of the screen captures looking a bit stretched and grainy. But that doesn’t detract from what they’re trying to portray and despite their simplicity their instruction still comes across clearly.

What’s Inside The FIFA 13 Strategy Guide

FIFA 13 Guide Review

Premier FIFA 13 Guide Sample Page

The guide, officially titled “Premier FIFA 13 Guide; What The Legends Do To Win”, is marked Version 1 which leaves the door open to updates in the future should more techniques become apparent.

Once you page through the usual titles and disclaimers the first thing we’re met with is an introduction to the FIFA players that contributed to making this guide and a parade of their credentials on the FIFA scene.

Amongst them is a 2012 FIFA Interactive World Cup finalist that’s undefeated in all FIFA 13 competitions so far this year (at the time of writing), a top 5 seeded UK FIFA player and a semi-pro FIFA player that was featured in the trailer for FIFA 12.

There’s no doubt that the vast majority of FIFA players could learn a thing or two from these guys but I was keen to see how their expertise was translated to tips and tutorials and the writer of this guide, Joey Roth, doesn’t disappoint in providing manageable chunks of information in a language that’s easy to follow.

The strategy guide goes on to provide a 13 page quick start guide (which itself contains some really useful, easy to implement tips) and then an in depth look at the FIFA 13 controls including:

  • Top 3 Dribbling Tips
  • Top 3 Passing Tips
  • Top 3 Crossing Tips
  • Top 3 Shooting Tips

Next up we’re onto the real meat of the FIFA 13 Guide which covers beginner, intermediate and advanced techniques from everything from defensive tactics to full on attacking strategies. Included are skill moves (how to do them but also where’s the best place to attempt each trick) and a comprehensive guide to set pieces.

Each section ends with a “Pro Tips Summary” which provides real value to the guide. These snippets of information (and there are plenty of them) show what the pros think about different in game situations to help you get the upper hand over your opponent.

The FIFA 13 strategy guide finishes with eye-opening lists of the Top 5 players in FIFA in each position and compares the ones with the best overall rating given by EA to the favourite players that the pros like to use.

In Ultimate Team this could potentially provide you with a cheaper alternative to the best player out there and one that actually plays better on the pitch too. It could also tempt you to try out some teams in head to head that you might not have thought of to use.

Bonuses Included With The Premier FIFA 13 Strategy Guide

FIFA 13 Guide

As well as the FIFA 13 guide itself you also receive four free bonuses:

  • Interviews – 3 audio interviews with the players that helped put the Premier FIFA 13 Guide together.
  • Basic Controls Handbook – A quick reference guide to all the FIFA 13 controls.
  • Mastering Skill Moves – A guide to which skill moves to use to breeze past your opponents.
  • Ultimate Team Unleashed – A guide to building your fantasy Ultimate Team.

We didn’t get a get a chance to review the bonus material but it’s all completely free so you can’t grumble at that.

FIFA 13 Guide Review Summary

Some of the tips in this guide are common sense for more advanced players but in a guide of this magnitude and the fact that the Premier FIFA 13 Guide caters for all levels of players that’s always going to be the case. That being said, they’re techniques that are all too easily forgotten so to be reminded of them helped me focus more and make less mistakes.

Once you’ve mastered the basics there are plenty of more advanced techniques included in each section to help you take your game to that next level.

The Pro Tips summaries at the end of each chapter help you get in the mindset of the pro FIFA player and show the type of things they’re thinking about in different game situations.

The tips and techniques in the guide are really clear and well laid out but if you’re struggling with any area the writer of the guide encourages you to get in touch for even more help.

Intermediate and beginner FIFA players will certainly benefit the most from this guide but even advanced players will take away some great strategies to try out to improve their game. (I know I did!)

Despite some really minor bugbears (mainly the image quality) at just $19 and with a 100% no questions asked 60 day money back guarantee I’m struggling to find reasons not to recommend this FIFA 13 guide which could easily be priced much higher (and may be in the future!)

Hey Craig does the guide also reveal how more coins can be made. Because it is quite a task to make enough gold on the game.

        • Craig Cole December 20, 2012 at 3:34 pm

One of the bonus’s that’s included is “Ultimate Team Unleashed” but we weren’t sent that to review unfortunately.

  4. Adam. October 28, 2012 at 10:01 pm

Looks pretty good, just wondering, what is the difference between this and the last guides from fifa 12, which I bought?!

    • Craig Cole October 29, 2012 at 8:51 pm

Cheers for your comment Adam. The gameplay’s different in FIFA 13 than it was in FIFA 12 and a lot of the tactics that worked previously aren’t as effective or need to be adapted this year.

This guide has been developed from the successful FIFA 12 guide formula but has been adapted to make you a successful FIFA 13 player.

Plus, the guide is being continuously developed as more techniques are uncovered and I spoke to the author today who told me that version 2 is already very close to release!

  5. todd October 29, 2012 at 1:17 am

I will probably give this a try. I’ve been stuck between div 3 and 4 for awhile now and I’m getting pretty sick of the losing.
    Thanks for the great review.

    • Craig Cole October 29, 2012 at 8:51 pm

No worries Todd. Let us know how you get on if you decide to get the guide!

  8. Alfonzo October 30, 2012 at 2:45 am

Hey I was just wondering if you think it would be worth the money if I mainly play pro clubs?

  9. Bob October 30, 2012 at 10:39 pm

    Hi
considering getting this, struggling to get out of div 10 at the moment.

in all honestly, I`m not expecting to get to div 1 anytime soon as I havent got enough hours to put into it and I struggle to remember the basic controls. However with your 60 day guarantee in mind, promotion to div 5 I would say is a decent achievement.

Considering I must be missing something to struggle out of div10, would you be confident enough to say that your guide will have it inside?

    • Craig Cole October 30, 2012 at 11:40 pm

Hi Bob, yeah definitely. This guide will show you some really simple things to do to instantly improve your game. Just take it at your own pace and like you say if you’re still struggling after 60 days you’ve got the guarantee to fall back on but I’m sure you’ll do well.

If you decide to get it let us know how you get on!

  10. Alfonzo October 31, 2012 at 12:31 pm

Hey Guys wondering if anybody who has the guide could reply to my previous post which was querying if the guide would be useful to a pro club player thanks in advance guys

    • Jayley November 25, 2012 at 4:39 pm

I’m thinking of getting this but only really play pro clubs, will there be enough in it of benefit to me?

  11. Heskey November 3, 2012 at 12:17 am

Why are you giving tips to Bob saying you will help him get out of div 10 when there is no div 10? Surely you should be telling him he is playing the wrong game…

    • Craig Cole November 3, 2012 at 12:50 am

I’ll be honest, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen the lower divisions. I was assuming Bob meant he was in the bottom one… ;)

      • Danny November 15, 2012 at 4:42 pm

        Hi,

I am thinking of getting the guide but to correct the guy above. Playing normal seasons there are 10 leagues so not quite sure what he is on about? Only Ultimate Team has less than 10 divisions.

        Regards

        Danny

Are there trading tips? I might buy this and if there are any trading tips to make more coins on FUT the chances of me buying this guide would grow bigger. Definitely.
