When we went to an early playtest of FIFA 12 at EA, Guildford last year the EA team proudly showcased some great new features that they’d been working dusk till dawn on for Career Mode on FIFA 12.

It looks like the team have given up sleep again this year as the new FIFA 13 Career Mode is crammed full of new improvements and developments.

Thanks to our friends a FIFASoccerBlog for bringing us news of the following new FIFA 13 Career Mode features.

FIFA 13 Career Mode Features

International Management in FIFA 13

We’ve been asked the question many times, “Will you be able to manage international teams on FIFA 13?” Well, yes you can!

When you earn enough reputation as a club manager you’ll start to receive job offers to manage international teams.

The types of offers that you’ll receive depend on factors such as your performance and reputation as a manager, your nationality and the league in which you manage.

Rumours and gossip will appear in the press of interested nations.

You’ll have you meet squad selection deadlines (one week prior to friendlies, one month prior to tournaments).

International campaigns run at the same time as management club but but have it’s own Career Mode “Hub” to help you differentiate between club and country.

Live Updates From Other Matches

When you’re playing your FIFA 13 Career Mode games you’ll now receive in game updates from other matches from Alan Mcinally and Geoff Shreeves.

The updates will certainly provide suspense and urgency around the business end of the season when points and goal difference could make all the difference.

The FIFA 13 In Game Updates can be turned on or off at the start of each match.

After each match you’ll receive an audio rundown of the classified results (you’ll still be able to navigate the menus and advance to the next week whilst listening to them).

FIFA 13 Player Stories

Player stories will now be more frequent and you’ll now receive instant feedback based on your decisions.

Player stories can go on for months and reoccur at points in the future so think carefully about you decisions or they could come back to haunt you.

There’s also player interaction on the international scene so you’ll have your work cut out keeping club and international players happy.

FIFA 13 Be A Player

You can choose to play with your Virtual Pro or a real player.

You’ll be given Season Objectives by your manager (determined by which position you play) as well as objectives to achieve every four matches, such as goals, clean sheets, passing percentage etc.

You’ll be able to request transfers or to be loaned out to gain more match time.

Your club can also choose to loan you out to gain more experience if your Virtual Pro rating isn’t up to speed with the rest of the first team.

During a match if your player’s tired or you’re playing badly you can now be substituted.

Transfer Negotiations

After the step forward last year the transfer system has been rewritten for FIFA 13 to give us far more options and interaction.

First up the introduction of a new Financial Strictness setting (chosen at the start of your Career Mode in FIFA 13) will decide how much money goes back into your transfer budget from the sale of players.

You’ll be able to make enquiries about players to find out their availability and how much their club might want for them.

In FIFA 13 Career Mode you’ll now be able to offer cash plus players whilst negotiating to bring new players to your club.

When bringing in loan players you’ll be able to negotiate future purchase fees to bring them to your club permanently at the end of their loan spell.

You’ll be able to counter offer bids for your players from the CPU. They’ll then choose to accept, reject or counter offer your counter offer.

Contract negotiations contain advice from your chief executive and you’ll now be able to let players know what role you see for them at your club. (Crucial player, future star etc.)

This will set the players’ expectation and help him to make his decision (but expect repercussions if someone you’ve told is a crucial player is now sitting on the bench.

Other New FIFA 13 Career Mode Features

You can now change club management jobs mid season by checking out the offers on the Jobs Board in the Managers Office.

Your manager will now appear on the touchline during games. (This option can be customised in the menus).

You’ll be able to modify player appearance during Career Mode by unlocking the option in the EASFC Catalogue.

You’ll be able to read news articles whilst the game’s advancing and a new Sky Sports style overlay will offer up breaking news stories whilst you’re navigating the menus.

We’re really impressed at how much EA have progressed Career Mode over the last 2 years and especially pleased at how driven the features and decisions have been by community feedback.

So keep talking people – EA are listening!

sorry i haven’t played fifa since 09 so 13 is like whoa! but i love it. but what makes a nPower league 2 like York City fire the manager if they’re in first place? I was getting warnings from the board about my behavior but I don’t understand what was causing this. I didn’t get alot of red cards either, so lil bit confused :)

I just got this game, and i made a player career. so i can’t really find out how to change the positions of players because alot of the achievements require a goalkeeping position or a defender position. so i was just wondering if it was possible at all to change the position?

Can anybody tell me why in career mode I keep getting sacked for Aggressive language/behaviour. No matter what I seem to do I can’t complete a season with the same team. It’s doing my head in and spoiling the game for me.

  16. campagnanomattia November 12, 2013 at 11:07 pm

DantayfreIt happens to me, too, and it really pisses me off, I can never get to end the season. I’m looking for a solution but so far I couldn’t find one.
