FIFA 13 Release Date A Month Early?

Two major retailers have listed the FIFA 13 release date as Tuesday, 28^th August 2012 so you may be able to get your hands on it early if you pre order FIFA 13 this year.

Both BestBuy and FutureShop’s Canadian online outlets have updated their pre-order FIFA 13 pages with the early release date despite other gaming giants Amazon, Play.com and Shopto.net having yet to list FIFA 13 pre orders at all.

The reason could be that both of the outlets listing the release date are based locally to EA Canada (where FIFA 13 is produced) and overseas logistics have yet to be confirmed.

Although this FIFA 13 release date is presumed to be an estimate BestBuy goes as far as to say specifically that:

“This product is scheduled to arrive in our warehouse on 28^th August 2012”

FIFA 13 Release Date Comparison

This FIFA 13 release date comes in a whole month earlier than the last two editions of FIFA:

• FIFA 11 was released 28^th September 2010 in the US and 1^st October 2010 Europe and Asia.
• FIFA 12 was released 27th September in the US and 30^th September 2011 Worldwide.

In the past EA has favoured a Friday FIFA release to Europe so if the 28^th August release date is correct, could we be seeing FIFA 13 released in Europe on Friday 31^st August?

Either way, it’s really not that far off!

Official Word

There’s been no official word from EA about the FIFA 13 release date yet.

Despite some great (and some terrible) ideas on our FIFA 13 Wishlist very little FIFA 13 information has been made public yet.

However after EA’s closed doors preview of FIFA 13 recently you can expect the FIFA 13 marketing floodgates to open very soon.

FIFA 13 EA Season Ticket Holders Early Release

EA Season Ticket holders will be able to gain early access to FIFA 13 and we’re expecting that appeal to be too much for some.

(There’s nothing worse than seeing half your friends list playing the new FIFA knowing you’ve got to wait until next week).

With EAs move towards more and more downloadable content (like the EURO 2012 DLC) the EA Season Ticket becomes a more and more attractive proposition offering 20% off all DLC including Ultimate Team packs.

FIFA 13 Pre-Order Safety

Pre Order bonuses are all the rage at the moment. They’re great for us because we get a bit extra by committing to buy a game that we were going to get anyway and they’re great for the producer’s cashflow and sales projections.

But handing over our cash in exchange for a promise to deliver can’t be taken for granted as it was a couple of years ago.

With Game heading into administration and putting a stop to FIFA Street pre orders recently, us consumers are going to have to be a bit more vigilant when it comes to where we pre order FIFA 13 from.

Since the time of writing UK outlet Gamestop have listed the FIFA 13 release date as 29th September 2012. Is this date just based on last year? We’ll update you with more details as we get them!
