UltimateFIFA’s FVPA Roundup #1
Hey guys, welcome to our first Roundup.
The FVPA bigwigs, Mark, Phil and, er… the other one, assure me that the reason behind this is that with more and more going on in the FVPA they wanted to keep you guys better informed and with your busy schedules it would be a good idea to have a centralised area where you can get all of the information. They insist it’s definitely not because they think you’re all lazy and can’t be arsed to read through all the topics on the forum!
I’d like to thank The Saturdays for taking the time to pose for our first title. Holding up letters doesn’t appear to be one of their strong points but I reckon we can forgive them…

iFVPA Roundup
With Ranking points at stake for the first time in February all teams were looking to cement a foothold towards the top of the table.

Friendlies

New appointed Scotland boss Peaty was looking to pick up where Dreamy_Walrus left off but could only manage a draw over the two legs against OHanlon’s Ireland in a very tight affair.
After some unrest in the Wales camp before the friendly against Italy, Melvin16’s team pulled together to put in one of their best performances in their campaign so far to get a result against a much favoured Italian team who were sitting pretty at the top of the table. Well done Wales, hopefully the result will bring solidarity back to the camp.
iFVPA Scotland 1 v 1 iFVPA Ireland
iFVPA Ireland 0 v 0 iFVPA Scotland
iFVPA Wales 3 v 0 iFVPA Italy
iFVPA Italy 0 v 0 iFVPA Wales

PS3 8 Nations Tournament
17.02.2011
Unfortunately, Scotland weren’t able to duplicate the Wales result and went down home and away to the high flying Italians by only a single goal in both games.
Scotland weren’t the only ones off to a slow start with Ireland registering a loss and a draw to tournament outsiders Algeria. The results leave both teams with some work to do to escape their groups.
iFVPA Scotland 0 v 1 iFVPA Italy
iFVPA Italy 2 v 1 iFVPA Scotland
iFVPA Algeria 2 v 1 iFVPA Ireland
iFVPA Ireland 0 v 0 iFVPA Algeria
18.02.2011
The Welsh camp were in action again, this time against Sid’s England and despite Wales holding out for a draw away from home, England came out on top in the return fixture. Credit goes to the English defence for keeping clean sheets in both games against a strong Irish attack.
iFVPA England 0 v 0 iFVPA Wales
iFVPA Wales 0 v 2 iFVPA England
The Standings in the PS3 8 Nations Cup (as at Friday) are:

Friendlies
12.02.2011
Ichundos316 has put together a very strong USA team but despite sitting at the top of the table only managed an away draw against Mexico. Mexico then edged the home leg by a goal against the run of play.
iFVPA Mexico 0 v 0 iFVPA USA
iFVPA USA 0 v 1 iFVPA Mexico
13.02.2011
The USA team obviously didn’t take the Mexico result lying down and came back the following day to demolish Belgium by a huge 7 goals over the two legs!
Shaunovic’s Scotland had to settle for a share of the spoils against Columbia with both teams having to contend with a bit of lag.
iFVPA Belgium 0 v 3 iFVPA USA
iFVPA USA 4 v 0 iFVPA Belgium
iFVPA Colombia 0 v 1 iFVPA Scotland
iFVPA Scotland 1 v 2 iFVPA Colombia
14.02.2011
USA were again in action in their third fixture in three days with the games this time ending in a stalemate versus a consistent Venezuela side.
iFVPA USA 1 v 1 iFVPA Venezuela
iFVPA Venezuela 1 v 1 iFVPA USA
16.02.2011
Still reeling from home and away defeats to Spain FVPA Mark’s England were determined to get some points on the board against second place Mexico. And after a much better attacking performance and 5 goals they managed to come through to win both the home and away legs.
Highlights can be seen here (thanks to Miikeeyyyy):
Yapamilias’s Ireland were on show too but underperformed against a steady France side losing both legs 2 – 0.
iFVPA England 3 v 1 iFVPA Mexico
iFVPA Mexico 1 v 2 iFVPA England
iFVPA France 2 v 0 iFVPA Ireland
iFVPA Ireland 0 v 2 iFVPA France
18.02.2011
Leamingtonfc’s Wales were unlucky not to get more out of their games against Belgium but now find themselves in need of some good performances to climb up from the bottom of the rankings.
iFVPA Wales 0 v 2 iFVPA Belgium
iFVPA Belgium 0 v 0 iFVPA Wales

With the PS3’s 8 Nations Tournament successfully underway Xbox 360 players will be pleased to know that the FVPA will be announcing details of the International X Cup very soon!
And remember, although Ranking points will affect the seeding in Tournaments, everyone starts each Tournament on an equal footing and if you want to win you’ve got to beat the best teams at some point along the way!
“Of The Week” Competitions
Last week saw Alex win Save of the Week #16 with a great save from close range (even though his defender tried his best to slot it himself!) Looks like a lot of you liked this save by the Manager of Racing Pumas on PS3 as he came out on top with a whopping 23% of the votes.
Congratulations also to craigmdfc “Set Piece” of the week #17 scoring straight from a corner!
The final competition running at the moment is Assist of the week #18 is now open for submissions. Get your entry in – with only two entries at time of writing now’s your chance to win that coveted award!
FVPA Pro Clubs League
Although EA have said that they are still waiting for news on a patch for the trigger glitch it’s still going on and a number of players have expressed an interest in an FVPA Pro Clubs League.
Well it looks like the FVPA Overlords have been listening because a Waiting List Topic has opened up in the Xbox section.
FVPA Mark announced: “We’ll be announcing a Clubs league with format, Rules, etc shortly but for the moment we would like to know how many clubs would be interested in taking part.”
If your club is interested then head over there and let him know.
There’s no news yet on whether a league is planned on the PS3.
